BREAKING: Jigawa Police Smash $419 Scam Ring, Arrest 13 Suspects in High-Stakes Operation

In a daring raid on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the Jigawa State Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilante groups, swooped in on notorious “419” gangs in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area, netting 13 suspects, including five alleged kingpins.

The operation, driven by credible intelligence, targeted villages known to be hotbeds of fraudulent activity, where scammers posing as currency exchangers would lure victims with promises of lucrative dollar deals, only to rob them of their valuables.

Counterfeit 100 US Dollar bills
Fake N1,000 denominations
Improvised Central Bank currency boxes
Three motorcycles suspected to be proceeds of crime
The police operation was executed with precision, resulting in no casualties. The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, assured the public that all suspects will face thorough investigation and prosecution.
