In a significant development for the journalism fraternity in Jigawa State, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Jigawa State Council has inaugurated its newly elected executive members. The swearing-in ceremony, held in Dutse, marked the beginning of a new era for the union in the state.

Isma’il Ibrahim Dutse has been sworn in as the Chairman of the council, with Nura Sani Bello as his Vice Chairman. Aisha Abba Ahmed takes on the role of Secretary, while Aminu Umar Shuwajo serves as Assistant Secretary. Auwal Muhammad Kazaure and Najib Umar have been appointed as Treasurer and Financial Secretary, respectively.

The newly sworn-in executives have pledged to uphold professionalism, press freedom, and the welfare of journalists in Jigawa State throughout their tenure. This commitment is in line with the NUJ’s mission to promote and protect the interests of journalists in Nigeria.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is the umbrella body for journalists in Nigeria, with the Jigawa State Chapter being one of its most active and vibrant units. The union plays a crucial role in promoting press freedom, advocating for journalists’ rights, and enhancing the capacity of journalists in the state.

The NUJ Jigawa State Chapter has been at the forefront of promoting journalism excellence in the state. The chapter has organized several capacity-building workshops and training programs for journalists in the state, aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge. The chapter has also been vocal in advocating for press freedom and journalists’ rights, often engaging with government officials and other stakeholders on issues affecting the profession.
