CISLAC, NEITI Reaffirm Commitment to Transparency and Equitable Resource Management
By Usman A Harande
ABUJA – The Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Mr. Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, has emphasized the strong synergy between CISLAC and the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), stressing that both institutions share a people-centered vision anchored on transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
Speaking during a courtesy visit in Abuja, Rafsanjani noted that CISLAC’s mission of deepening legislative and institutional reforms for social justice and good governance “finds full expression in NEITI’s work.” He maintained that the ultimate goal is to ensure Nigeria’s vast natural wealth benefits all citizens, rather than a privileged minority.
NEITI’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, echoed this commitment, reiterating that the agency remains dedicated to promoting transparency and accountability in the management of Nigeria’s extractive resources. He assured that under his leadership, NEITI would continue to work closely with civil society and other stakeholders to guarantee that revenues from oil, gas, and solid minerals are utilized for the collective benefit of Nigerians.
Both leaders agreed that stronger collaboration between CISLAC and NEITI will strengthen reforms in the extractive sector, foster good governance, and advance national development through fair and transparent resource management.
