The Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation has celebrated Honourable Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, by naming him a Champion of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). This prestigious recognition highlights his dedication to fostering a cleaner and healthier Nigeria, particularly during his transformative leadership as Governor of Jigawa State.
The ceremony, held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja, coincided with the 5th Anniversary of the Clean Nigeria Campaign. It also marked the launch of the Clean Nigeria: Use the Toilet Strategic Plan, a pivotal initiative aimed at eradicating open defecation nationwide.
Minister Badaru’s tenure as Jigawa State Governor set a benchmark for WASH advocacy, with his administration pioneering innovative sanitation projects that enhanced public health and environmental standards.
This honor cements his role as a national advocate for sustainable development and underscores his ongoing contributions to a cleaner, safer Nigeria.
