As part of activities marking the 2025 World Breastfeeding Day, the Chairman of Dutse Local Government, Hon. Dr. Sibu Abdullahi, on Wednesday attended a special event held at the Kachi Primary Health Care Centre in Dutse, Jigawa State.

The event, which emphasized the importance of breastfeeding for child and maternal health, was graced by dignitaries, including the Wife of the Governor of Jigawa State, Haj. Hadiza Umar A. Namadi, who was ably represented by the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Haj. Aisha Aminu Usman, FNSE.

Also in attendance was the Wife of the Dutse Local Government Chairman, Haj. Fatima Sibu Abdullahi, who played an active role in mobilizing and supporting the event.

In his remarks, Hon. Dr. Sibu Abdullahi reiterated his administration’s commitment to maternal and child health, while calling for increased awareness around exclusive breastfeeding practices. As part of his goodwill gesture, the Chairman donated a token of ₦300,000 to support breastfeeding mothers, and an additional ₦50,000 to the first mother to deliver a baby girl on the day.

The event drew participation from healthcare professionals, community leaders, nursing mothers, and development partners.

World Breastfeeding Day is observed annually to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding and advocate for better support systems for mothers.
