In a significant development, the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has officially announced the Eid-el-Fitr celebration and Durbar in Kano, marking the end of Ramadan. This announcement was made in a letter sent to the Police Commissioner of Kano Command, outlining the Emir’s plans to celebrate the Sallah festivities with a grand Durbar ceremony.

According to the letter, signed by the Emir’s private secretary, the Durbar ceremony will take place on the first, second, and third days of Sallah. This traditional ceremony is a significant part of Kano’s cultural heritage, showcasing the rich history and traditions of the Emirate.

The Durbar festival, which dates back to the 14th century, is a spectacular display of horsemanship and cultural pageantry ¹. The ceremony typically features an elaborate horse ride by the Emir and his entourage, accompanied by music, dance, and other cultural performances.

The Emir’s announcement is expected to draw thousands of spectators to the city of Kano, as people gather to witness the colorful Durbar ceremony and celebrate the end of Ramadan.
