FCT POLICE COMMAND CONFIRMS FATAL ATTACK ON OFFICERS BY PROSCRIBED SHI’ITE GROUP
Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed an unprovoked attack by the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as the Shi’ite group, on police personnel at Wuse Junction, Abuja. By Usman
According to SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, the attack resulted in the deaths of two police officers and left three others unconscious, receiving medical treatment.
Eyewitnesses report that the Shi’ite group attacked the police checkpoint with machetes, improvised explosive devices, and knives.
The FCT Police Command has made several arrests and promises to bring those involved to justice.
Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, condemned the unprovoked attack on police officers, assuring the public that the situation is under control and normalcy has been restored.
The incident is currently under investigation, with further developments to be communicated in due course.
