KANO, Nigeria – In a somber display of solidarity, Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, visited Kano State to express heartfelt condolences following the tragic death of 16 hunters in a fire incident in Uromi, Edo State. The governor’s visit underscored the gravity of the incident and the commitment to ensuring justice for the victims.

Governor Okpebholo, addressing officials at the Kano State Government House, described the incident as “heartbreaking,” confirming that 14 suspects have been apprehended in connection with the devastating fire. He pledged that the Edo State government will leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice and providing comprehensive support to the bereaved families.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss,” Governor Okpebholo stated. “We are committed to ensuring that those responsible face the full consequences of their actions, and that the families of the victims receive the necessary assistance during this difficult time.”

Responding to the governor’s visit, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, expressed his gratitude for the solidarity and urged Governor Okpebholo to ensure a swift and thorough legal process. Governor Yusuf also made a strong appeal to the federal government, calling for transparency and accountability.

“We urge the federal government to publicly disclose the identities of all individuals arrested in connection with these heinous killings,” Governor Yusuf emphasized. “Furthermore, it is imperative that adequate compensation be provided to the families of the deceased to alleviate their suffering.”

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for enhanced security measures in the region. The commitment of both state governments to pursue justice and support the affected families highlights the need for a collaborative approach to addressing such tragic events.
