Governor Zulum Appoints Acting DG of SEMA

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has appointed Ali Abdullahi Isa as the Acting Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Zulum’s Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya.
Who is Ali Abdullahi Isa? Ali Abdullahi Isa, a native of Biu Local Government Area in southern Borno, has built a distinguished career in public service. He began as an Audit Assistant in 1991, rising through the ranks to become a Chief Administrative Officer (Audit). In 2017, he was deployed to the Government House as an Assistant Director of Administration. Until his latest appointment, Isa served as the Director of Research and Statistics at SEMA, playing a key role in data-driven decision-making for emergency response and humanitarian interventions in Borno State.
Governor Zulum urged the newly appointed DG to leverage his vast experience in humanitarian services to enhance the agency’s operations for the benefit of Borno residents, particularly in addressing disaster response and internally displaced persons’ (IDP) welfare.
The governor also commended the outgoing DG, Dr. Barkindo Mohammed Saidu, for his service to the state. He has been directed to report to the Office of the Head of Service for further assignments.
With this appointment, Ali Abdullahi Isa is expected to lead SEMA’s humanitarian efforts in a state that has faced years of security challenges and displacement crises. His expertise in research and administration will be pivotal in strengthening emergency response mechanisms across Borno.
