Gumel Emirate in Jigawa State Rich 275-Year Launches Book Chronicling its History

In a significant move to preserve its cultural heritage, the Gumel Emirate Council in Jigawa State has inaugurated six committees to ensure the successful launch of a book titled “History of the Gumel Emirate.” The book, authored by the late Alhaji Salisu Makala, chronicles the emirate’s rich history spanning over 275 years.
A Brief History of the Gumel Emirate
Founded around 1750 by Dan Juma of Kano city and his followers from the Manga (Mangawa) tribe, the Gumel Emirate has a fascinating history. After Dan Juma’s death in 1754, the emirate became a tributary state of the Bornu kingdom.

Committees Inaugurated for Book Launch
The six committees inaugurated by the Gumel Emirate Council include:
- Finance Committee: Responsible for managing the financial aspects of the book launch.
- Security Committee: Ensures the safety and security of guests and participants during the event.
- Media Committee: Handles publicity and media relations for the book launch.
- Welfare Committee: Focuses on the well-being and comfort of guests and participants.
- Hospitality Committee: Responsible for hosting and catering to guests during the event.
- Data Collection Committee: Collects and analyzes data related to the book launch.
According to the chairman of the emirate’s book launch committee, Alhaji Abbas Mohammed, the committees will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event. He urged committee members to work together and dedicate themselves to making the book launch a memorable occasion.
