Jigawa Launches School Safety Initiative, Stakeholders Emphasize Informants’ Privacy

Jigawa State has unveiled a groundbreaking School Safety Initiative, aimed at bolstering security and well-being across its schools. The launch ceremony, held at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall in Dutse, brought together key stakeholders who underscored the importance of protecting informants sharing intelligence with security agencies.
Protecting Informants’ Identities
The Chairman of the Jigawa emirate’s council, represented by Adamu Aliya, emphasized that exposing whistleblowers’ identities could jeopardize the initiative’s success. Muhammad Babangida, Jigawa State Chairman of Jama’atul Nasril Islam, echoed similar sentiments, stressing that guaranteeing informants’ privacy is crucial for building trust and cooperation.
Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration
Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring school safety. He revealed that over 9,000 private guards have been deployed to secure schools, addressing youth unemployment and improving security across the 27 Local Government Areas.
Call to Action
Ahmad Ammani, Inspector General of Police’s representative, urged stakeholders to cooperate, stating that the initiative’s success hinges on support from parents, school administrators, students, and the general public. Haruna Dangyatim, Chairman of the Police and Community Committee, advocated for strengthened community policing, emphasizing its role in maintaining peace and stability.
The launch ceremony concluded with a united call for a secure and conducive learning environment across Jigawa State.
