The Jigawa State Police Command has launched a comprehensive training program for police officers assigned to protect Very Important Persons (VIPs) across the state. The training, which started on May 11, 2025, aims to enhance the operational capacity of security personnel attached to key government officials, including the governor, deputy governor, speaker, commissioners, and local government chairmen.

The training will cover critical areas such as:

  • Weapon handling and tactical firearm drills
  • Close protection techniques and protective escort formations
  • Crowd management and public event de-escalation strategies
  • Threat assessment and risk management

According to Commissioner of Police VIP protection is a delicate task that requires not only physical preparedness but also sound judgment and emotional intelligence,” said CP AT Abdullahi, Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command. “This training is a proactive measure to ensure that our officers are fully prepared to carry out their duties with precision, professionalism, and respect for human rights.”

The training will be led by expert facilitators from the command, who will ensure that global best practices are implemented. The Command has emphasized the importance of cooperation between VIPs and law enforcement agencies in maintaining public safety.

This training is expected to contribute to better public safety outcomes in Jigawa State, as police officers tasked with VIP protection will be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their duties effectively.
