The Jigawa State House of Assembly has officially amended the State Social Security Allowance Law for Persons with Special Needs, raising the monthly allowance from N7,000 to N10,000. This increase extends across all local government areas in the state, reflecting the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable citizens.

The legislative amendment followed a motion presented by Speaker Rt. Hon. Dangyatin and other lawmakers, acting on the directive of His Excellency, Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi. In addition to the increment, the Governor has approved an expansion in the number of beneficiaries per local government area, increasing from 150 to 200 individuals.

Acknowledgment of Key Stakeholders

The successful passage of this amendment would not have been possible without the dedication and contributions of key stakeholders, including:

  • The Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs
  • The Executive Secretary, Jigawa State Rehabilitation Board
  • Hon. Comr. Habibu Turtala Taura (Special Assistant on Persons with Disabilities Matters)
  • The Leadership of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Jigawa State Chapter

As this development aligns with the spirit of Ramadan, prayers have been offered for all those who played a role in ensuring the passage of the law.

Commitment to Governor Namadi’s Leadership

The Disabled Contact and Mobilization Committee for the 2023 Election Campaign of Governor Namadi has reaffirmed its unwavering support for his administration and re-election bid in 2027. The committee remains confident that His Excellency will continue to fulfill his promises regarding the rights and welfare of persons with special needs.

Call for Inclusive Appointments

In a heartfelt appeal, committee members have urged Governor Namadi to consider local government campaign committee members for appointments in his administration. They believe that those who actively contributed to his 2023 election victory should be recognized in governance.

Forward with APC and Tinubu’s Vision

The committee concluded with a reaffirmation of its commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi in building a stronger and more inclusive Jigawa State.
