Jigawa State Executive Council Approves Relief Measures for Tanker Explosion Victims

Dutse, Jigawa State – The Jigawa State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Umar A. Namadi, has approved significant relief measures for the victims of the recent tanker explosion incident in Majiya Town, Taura Local Government Area.
In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport, and Council, Sagir Musa Ahmed, the Council has approved the following:
Financial Assistance: A sum of N60 million will be distributed to the 210 families affected by the explosion, providing them with essential food items and financial support. Each family will receive 25kg of rice, 10kg of millet, 10kg of maize, and a carton of spaghetti. Additionally, families of hospitalized victims will receive N200,000 each, with all medical expenses covered by the state government.
Gratitude to Donors: The Council extended its heartfelt appreciation to the Federal Government, 35 state governments, and numerous individuals and organizations for their condolences and support following the tragedy. They also acknowledged the pledges of N1.448 billion from various donors to assist the victims and their families.
Urban Beautification: The Council approved N354 million for the construction of city gates at Andaza, Karnaya, and Laraba in Dutse Metropolis as part of the state’s beautification efforts.Education Infrastructure: A counterpart fund of N3.554 billion was approved for the construction of 304 classrooms, renovation of 514 classrooms, construction of 27 school perimeter walls, procurement of 29,984 sets of classroom furniture, and 646 sets of teacher’s furniture.
This investment will improve educational facilities across the state and enhance access to quality education.
The approval of these relief measures demonstrates the Jigawa State Government’s commitment to supporting its citizens in times of crisis and ensuring their well-being.
