Kano Emir Bayero Blocked from Renovating Nasarawa Mini Palace

Kano, Nigeria – A Kano State High Court has issued a temporary injunction preventing the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, from renovating the Nasarawa mini palace. The palace has been used as a temporary court by the emir since his return to the state following the dissolution of the emirates in May 2024.
The injunction was granted by Chief Judge Justice Dije Abdu Aboki upon a suit filed by the Kano State Government, the State Attorney General, and the Kano Emirate against Emir Bayero. The plaintiffs argued that the renovation would alter the palace’s historical and architectural significance.
The court ordered all parties involved to maintain the status quo of the palace until the case is resolved. The hearing for the motion on notice has been scheduled for October 2, 2024.
