Kano State Strengthens Ties with Tunisia as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Hosts Ambassador

In a bid to foster deeper economic collaboration, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf welcomed the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Nigeria, His Excellency Mohsen Antit, along with a high-powered delegation of Tunisian government officials and business leaders.
The visit coincided with the ongoing Tunisia-Nigeria Multi-sectoral Economic Forum, which aims to strengthen bilateral trade in key sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, culture, and trade.Governor Yusuf reiterated Kano State’s commitment to building mutually beneficial partnerships, highlighting Tunisia’s engagement with Kano as a significant step toward strengthening bilateral trade, particularly in agriculture.
Kano-Tunisia Partnership: Key Areas of Collaboration
Garment Production: Leveraging Tunisia’s expertise in textile manufacturing to drive growth in Kano’s garment industry.
Dairy Processing: Collaborating to develop Kano’s dairy sector, leveraging Tunisia’s experience in dairy processing and production.
Dyeing Industries: Partnering to establish a thriving dyeing industry in Kano, utilizing Tunisia’s expertise in textile dyeing.
To facilitate business interactions, Governor Yusuf directed the State’s Ministry of Investment, Commerce, and Industries, along with the Ministry of Agriculture, to organize an exhibition showcasing Kano’s economic strengths to the Tunisian delegation.
The governor also expressed gratitude for Tunisia’s hospitality towards 17 Kano entrepreneurs who recently visited the country for business engagements, assuring that Kano would reciprocate by providing a welcoming environment for Tunisian investors.
To further solidify this partnership, Governor Yusuf instructed the Managing Director of the Kano State Investment Promotion Agency (KAN-INVEST) to accompany the ambassador on a tour of key economic sites across the state.
This development is expected to boost economic growth and development in Kano State, while strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and Tunisia.
