Minister Badaru Convenes Top Brass :Defence Chiefs Outline Strategies to Quell National Security Threats

Abuja, Nigeria – In a pivotal move to address the nation’s pressing security challenges, Honourable Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, today convened a high-level operational briefing with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Service Chiefs at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja.

The meeting, held on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, served as a crucial platform for the Minister to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current security landscape across Nigeria. The focus of the discussions centered on the ongoing operational engagements, the challenges faced, and the strategic efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in combating insecurity and restoring peace to troubled regions.

Minister Badaru received detailed briefings on the security situations in the North East, Plateau State, North West, North Central, and South East regions, areas particularly affected by insurgency, banditry, and communal unrest. Discussions emphasized the need to enhance ongoing military operations, improve intelligence coordination, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and optimize resource allocation to achieve sustainable peace and national stability.
The security situations in Borno and Plateau states received extensive attention, with the development of viable strategies to effectively counter threats and restore normalcy. Minister Badaru reiterated his unwavering commitment to working closely with the Armed Forces to devise effective strategies that will bring lasting solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges. He also reaffirmed the President’s steadfast support for the Armed Forces, emphasizing the necessity of a proactive, intelligence-driven, and community-engaged approach to national defence.
“This briefing has provided a clearer picture of the operational realities on the ground, supplementing what I observed during my visits,” Minister Badaru stated. “It has also allowed the Armed Forces to articulate their efforts and strategies to ensure the protection of the lives and property of Nigerians, as mandated by the constitution.”
He further emphasized, “We are determined to support our gallant troops with the necessary tools and policies needed to win the fight against insecurity and ensure that every Nigerian lives in safety and dignity.”
The meeting underscores the government’s commitment to prioritizing national security and fostering collaboration among key stakeholders to effectively address the nation’s security challenges.
