NDLEA Officer Arrested for Fatal Shooting of 19-Year-Old Woman in Kano

Tragedy struck in Kano State on Wednesday night when two operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) allegedly shot and killed a 19-year-old woman, Patient Samuel, in Jaba Quarters, Nasarawa local government area. The incident occurred at about 10:55 p.m., according to intelligence sources.
Arrest and Investigation
The Kano State Police Command swiftly responded to the scene, evacuating Samuel to Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, where she was confirmed dead. The police arrested the two NDLEA officers, Nass Ridwan Usman, 23, and Sna Ismaila Yakubu, 26, both attached to the agency’s Kano State headquarters.
Recovered Items
Several items were recovered from the suspects, including:
- Motorcycle
- One live round of ammunition
- Four empty shells of 7.62×51mm ammunition
- Two knives ³
Official Response
A security official confirmed the arrest, stating that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. Another source within the police command described the incident as “tragic and unfortunate,” emphasizing that the law must take its course to ensure justice for the victim and her family.
As of press time, the Kano State Police Command has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
