The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has released its timetable for the upcoming elective national convention, scheduled to take place from November 15 to 16, 2025, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The convention, according to the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), is aimed at electing new national officers to steer the affairs of the party. To ensure a transparent and credible process, the NEC has approved the composition of the National Convention Committee as well as the Zoning Committee.

As part of its preparations, the PDP National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum, and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, have been mandated to formally notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the party’s convention plans.

The decision was announced following the NEC meeting held on July 24, 2025, in Abuja, where several key issues were also deliberated.

Among the resolutions, the party directed its National Working Committee (NWC) to initiate immediate legal action to reclaim the seats of PDP lawmakers who have defected to other political parties.

Addressing concerns about internal disputes, the NEC reassured aggrieved members that deliberate efforts are underway to resolve their grievances. The committee also expressed worry over reports of some PDP members participating in the activities of rival political parties, describing such conduct as unacceptable.

The next NEC meeting has been scheduled for Monday, August 25, 2025.
