The Nigerian Senate Committee on Downstream Petroleum has commenced an inspection of the nation’s refineries, including the Port Harcourt Refinery, which has resumed operation. This development has sparked optimism about a potential reduction in fuel prices and a boost to the nation’s economy.

According to Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, Chairman of the Committee, the inspection aims to verify the refineries’ operational status and ensure that they meet their commitments. The Committee’s efforts are expected to promote transparency and accountability in the petroleum sector.

The resumption of operations at the Port Harcourt Refinery is a significant milestone, and there are hopes that other refineries will soon follow suit. As the Committee continues its inspection, Nigerians eagerly await the potential benefits of refined petroleum products and a more stable energy market.
