President Tinubu Extends Immigration CG’s Tenure to 2026, Praises Leadership

ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a significant extension of the tenure of Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) until December 31, 2026. This decision underscores the President’s confidence in her leadership and the strides made by the NIS under her guidance.
Originally appointed on March 1, 2024, to serve until August 31, 2025, Mrs. Nandap’s tenure has now been extended, recognizing her exemplary service and the tangible improvements witnessed within the immigration service. She began her distinguished career with the NIS on October 9, 1989, and has since demonstrated unwavering dedication to her duties.
President Tinubu, in his statement, commended Mrs. Nandap for her “exemplary leadership,” highlighting the significant advancements achieved in the NIS’s core mandate. These advancements include notable improvements in border management, the modernization of immigration processes, and the strengthening of national security measures.
“The President urges the Comptroller-General to continue dedicating herself to the Service’s strategic priorities, which align with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” stated Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy).
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary support to the Nigeria Immigration Service, ensuring they effectively fulfill their mandate to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and promote safe, legal, and orderly migration. This extension signals the government’s focus on continuity and sustained progress in critical national security functions.
