The Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Nigeria Family has announced the passing of its co-founder, Professor Bene Edwin Madunagu, on November 26, 2024. Professor Madunagu was a distinguished Professor of Botany and a globally recognized feminist and social justice activist.

The GPI Board of Trustees, led by Chairperson Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa, has paid tribute to Professor Madunagu’s remarkable life and legacy. “She walked the talk as a feminist and remains a shining example of what feminism is and the difference feminists make in society,” Professor Atsenuwa said.
The GPI family commiserates with Professor Madunagu’s husband, Dr. Edwin Madunagu, her children, and her entire family, and prays for the peaceful repose of her soul.
