In a bid to foster a culture of integrity and accountability among the youth, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has called on students across the country to become anti-corruption ambassadors in their schools, homes, and communities.

Speaking at the EFCC Academy in Karu, Abuja, on June 25, 2025, Olukoyede, represented by the Head of Media Unit, Assistant Commander of EFCC, ACE1 Chidimma Amanambu, emphasized the crucial role youths play in shaping the nation’s future. “You are the future of this country,” she said. “It’s your duty to encourage those around you to do the right thing and point out wrongdoings whenever you see them.”

This charge was delivered to a group of students from Nobel Heights Academy, Karu, who visited the EFCC Academy on an excursion. The students were taken through the functions of the EFCC, the laws it enforces, and the penalties for various offenses. The presentation, made by Deputy Superintendent of EFCC, DSE Angel Israel, highlighted the Commission’s achievements in the fight against corruption.
The EFCC’s initiative to engage with students and educate them on the importance of integrity and accountability is part of a broader strategy to prevent corruption and promote a culture of transparency. By empowering the youth with knowledge and values, the Commission aims to build a society that rejects corrupt practices and promotes ethical behavior.
The role of the youth in preventing corruption cannot be overstated. As future leaders and change-makers, they have the power to shape societal norms and values. By instilling in them the importance of integrity and accountability, we can build a more just and equitable society.
The EFCC Academy serves as a hub for training and development, not just for EFCC personnel but also for students and other stakeholders. Its facilities provide a conducive environment for learning and growth, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to combat financial crimes.
As the nation continues to grapple with the challenges of corruption, initiatives like this are crucial in building a brighter future. By working together, we can create a society that values transparency, accountability, and integrity.
