SSANU and NASU Embark on Indefinite Strike Over Unpaid Salaries
October 28th, 2024

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Allied and Federated Universities (NASU) have commenced an indefinite strike, demanding the immediate payment of their outstanding salaries.
In a joint statement signed by SSANU President Muhammad Ibrahim and NASU General Secretary Peters Adeyemi, the unions expressed deep disappointment over the government’s failure to address their grievances despite numerous ultimatums.
Last September, members of both unions staged protests across Nigerian universities, calling for the settlement of their unpaid wages. The recent strike action follows the government’s continued disregard for their demands.
Armed with placards bearing various inscriptions, the agitated workers marched through university campuses, urging the federal government to release their withheld salaries and implement other outstanding agreements.
