ABUJA – Former Governor of Jigawa State and inestimable leader of the Talakawas, Dr. Sule Lamido, CON, on Monday morning, encountered a setback at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Headquarters in Abuja, as he was unable to obtain his nomination form for the position of National Chairman ahead of the party’s 15th–16th November National Convention slated for Ibadan, Oyo State.
Dr. Lamido, who arrived at the Wadata Plaza earlier in the day, expressed dissatisfaction and disappointment over what he described as “unjustifiable administrative delays”, alleging that certain elements within the party were attempting to frustrate his ambition.
Speaking to journalists amid a large turnout of supporters, the former Foreign Affairs Minister vowed to seek legal redress, stressing that his determination to contest for the PDP chairmanship remains unshaken despite the setback.
“This is not about me; it’s about justice, fairness, and the future of our great party. No one should be above the rules,” Lamido asserted.
The incident has sparked reactions among party members and political observers, with many viewing it as a significant twist in the build-up to the PDP’s forthcoming National Convention, where new national executives are expected to emerge.
