Sule Lamido University Kano (SLUK) recently hosted accreditation teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for a peer review exercise. The teams, led by renowned academics, evaluated the B.A. (Ed.) Arabic, B.A. (Ed.) Islamic Studies, and B.A. (Ed.) / B. Sc. (Ed.) Library and Information Science programmes.

Professor Jibril Attahiru Alhassan from Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT, Minna), and Professor Ilyasu Abbas of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, led the accreditation teams. During a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, the team leaders emphasized the importance of the peer review exercise in enhancing the scholarship of the programmes.

Other team members included Professor Dauda Abubakar from the University of Jos, who evaluated the B.A. (Ed.) Arabic and B.A. (Ed.) Islamic Studies programmes, and Professor Fatima Lasisi Ibrahim from the University of Maiduguri, who assessed the B.A. (Ed.) / B. Sc. (Ed.) Library and Information Science programme.

The accreditation exercise is a critical step in ensuring the quality and relevance of academic programmes in Nigerian universities. SLUK’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to providing high-quality education are evident in its willingness to undergo this rigorous evaluation process.
