SUSO Initiative Empowers 300 Jigawa Farmers with Essential Inputs for Wheat Season

The Stand Up Speak Out Initiative (SUSO) has launched its Small-Scale Farmers Empowerment Project, supporting 300 farmers from across Jigawa State with critical farm inputs. This program, held in Hadejia Local Government Area, is aimed at enhancing food security and fostering economic stability as the wheat season begins.

Each of the 300 beneficiary farmers received a bag of Indorama Urea fertilizer, 10 kg of improved Boloudh 100 wheat seeds, and 2 liters of Butter Force agrochemical. The input package, which also included spray guns, is tailored to equip farmers for a productive wheat farming season starting in November.
The distribution event saw significant representation, with dignitaries such as His Royal Highness the Emir of Hadejia, represented by Alhaji Baffa Abubakar (Sarkin Fulanin Hadejia), and the Governor of Jigawa State, represented by Hon. Basiru Abdullahi (B-Hadejia), among others. Prof. Bashir Garba Mukhtar, Rector of Bilyaminu Usman College of Agriculture Hadejia, and delegates from ACReSAL, JARDA, JASCO, AFAN, and Hadejia Local Government Council were also in attendance, exploring potential areas of partnership to strengthen agricultural initiatives in Jigawa.
Local media, including Jigawa Television, NTA, Jigawa Radio, and Freedom Radio, covered the event, bringing attention to SUSO’s efforts to drive agricultural development. Leaders from the Jigawa State Government, the Hadejia Emirate Council, and various development partners expressed appreciation for SUSO’s role in combating poverty and hunger while advancing food security.

The initiative, coordinated by Amb. Bashir Nasiru Garki, aims to empower local farmers with high-quality resources and technical support. Dr. Doyle Edeni, founder of SUSO, was widely credited for his compassionate vision and commitment to transforming lives through sustainable agricultural practices.
SUSO’s program marks a significant step towards reducing rural poverty and bolstering food resilience in Jigawa State, creating a model for similar interventions across Nigeria.
