Teacher Arrested for Gruesome Murder of Almajiri Student in Jigawa State

A shocking crime has shaken Jigawa State, Nigeria, after a teacher, Malam Musa Wada, 45, was arrested for the brutal murder of his student, Bashir Adamu. The incident occurred in Jikas-Dabaja village, Gwaram Local Government Area.
According to the Jigawa State Police Command, Wada was arrested on March 13, 2025, following a tip-off. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to killing Adamu, an Almajiri student, for refusing to attend school. Wada claimed that he decided to punish Adamu, which resulted in the student’s death.
In an attempt to cover up the crime, Wada beheaded Adamu and removed his genital organs, burying them in his farmland. The beheaded body was discovered on March 12, 2025, along the roadside in Jikas-Dabaja village.
The police have concluded their investigation and will arraign Wada before the court to face justice. This disturbing incident highlights the need for increased vigilance and accountability in schools to prevent such heinous crimes.
Similar Cases of Teachers Killing Students
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. There have been several reported cases of teachers killing their students in various parts of the world. For example, in 2003, a Chinese teacher, Liu Hongwen, killed four children and injured nine others in a brutal attack. In another case, a Japanese teacher, Yu Hagino, murdered a 12-year-old student in 2005. These incidents underscore the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of students in educational institutions.
