Tinubu Announces New Eleven Appointments

In a move aimed at transforming Nigeria’s electricity transmission landscape, President Bola Tinubu has announced eleven new appointments for the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO). This development is part of efforts to implement the Electricity Act of 2023, which mandates the restructuring of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) into a Transmission System Provider and an Independent System Operator.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) established NISO on April 30, 2024, with the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) and the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) holding equal ownership shares. The selection process was carried out through the Independent Board Nomination Committee (IBNC) in collaboration with Phillips Consulting Limited. The National Council on Privatisation (NCP) will complete the recruitment process for NISO.
