Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent deadly attacks in several communities across Plateau State, vowing that the perpetrators will face severe legal consequences. The President expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and destruction of property in Ruwi, Hurti, and Tadai communities in Bokkos Local Government, as well as Manguna and Dafo villages.
President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the Government of Plateau State, led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang. He urged the affected communities to collaborate with security agencies by providing crucial information that will aid in the apprehension of the gunmen.
“The report of another violent attack in communities in Plateau State by mindless gunmen saddens me. The latest attacks on defenceless citizens are unacceptable. I have directed security agencies to hunt down the attackers, and they will face severe punishment when apprehended,” President Tinubu stated.
The President assured Governor Mutfwang of his unwavering support in efforts to quell the escalating violence in the region. He also directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to collaborate with state authorities to provide immediate relief and support to the affected communities and those injured during the attacks. NEMA will further assist in the rebuilding and recovery efforts.
“These intermittent attacks should have no place in our country at a time when we are working so hard to restore peace and order in all parts of our country. This unfortunate incident will never dampen and slow us down in our duty to protect every Nigerian citizen. Instead, we will work harder to exterminate forces of evil wherever they are lurking in our country,” President Tinubu emphasized.
The President called for unity and peace, urging all citizens to reject retaliation and embrace their shared humanity.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), released the statement on April 5, 2025.
