TRAGEDY STRIKES JIGAWA: 5 DROWN IN FLOODWATERS, 1 KILLED AND DUMPED IN WELL
The Jigawa State Police Command has reported two separate incidents, resulting in the loss of six lives.
Canoe Capsizes in Floodwaters: 5 Dead
On August 27, 2024, at about 1200hrs, a canoe carrying five persons capsized while attempting to cross a flooded road in Ganta town, Buji LGA. Despite rescue efforts by police and local divers, all five occupants were pronounced dead at Gansta Cottage Hospital. The deceased are:
- Lurwanu Adamu, 30
- Idris Abubakar, 50
- Fiddausi Dahiru, 13 (female)
- Ramla Nura, 7 (female)
- Usman Adamu, 2
Four-Man Squad Kills and Dumps Victim in Well
On August 19, 2024, at about 1700hrs, a 20-year-old cyclist, Anas Jamilu, was attacked, killed, and dumped in a well by a four-man squad in Sabuwar Rijiya Fulani settlement, Garki LGA. The suspects, including a repeat offender, have been identified and will be charged to court after investigation.
The Jigawa State Police Command urges citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
