Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria – The Nigerian government has set an ambitious target to propel the nation into the top 80 countries on the global Human Capital Index (HCI) by the year 2030, signaling a strong commitment to boosting workforce capabilities and enhancing socioeconomic prosperity.

Vice President Kashim Shettima unveiled this strategic vision on Monday in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, during the launch of the state’s National Human Capital Development (HCD) Accelerator Project and the groundbreaking ARISE Human Capital Development Strategy.

“Our goal is clear: to elevate Nigeria’s standing on the global stage by investing in our most valuable asset – our people,” stated Vice President Shettima during his address. “By strengthening our workforce and improving the overall quality of life, we are laying the foundation for a more prosperous and equitable future.”

The HCD Accelerator Project aims to expedite progress in key human capital indicators, focusing on health, education, and labor productivity. The ARISE strategy, tailored specifically for Akwa Ibom, emphasizes a holistic approach to human development, addressing the unique needs and challenges of the state.
