“Governor Lawal was impressed with the operational standards at Comet Star Industry, which features a state-of-the-art facility encompassing discharge bays, crusher sections, conveyor belts, shaking tables, a dedicated powerhouse, and a laboratory for product processing,” Idris stated.

Following the tour, Governor Lawal expressed optimism about the positive impact of improved security on the state’s economy. “The progress we are witnessing here is a direct result of the enhanced security situation in Zamfara,” he remarked, acknowledging the efforts of security forces and stakeholders in restoring peace. “We are actively engaging with the Federal Government, the private sector, and local communities to unlock the vast potential of our mineral resources. He also committed to providing essential tools and resources to mitigate environmental degradation caused by unregulated mining practices.
“We are collaborating with the Federal Government to implement necessary regulations,” Governor Lawal assured the miners. “The Commissioner for Environment will work with you to ensure proper registration, which will enable us to maintain accurate records. The state government will facilitate access to small-scale mining leases from the Federal Government, provided you form cooperative societies.”Governor Lawal’s proactive approach to the mining sector highlights his administration’s commitment to harnessing Zamfara’s natural resources for sustainable economic development, while ensuring environmental protection and community empowerment.
