Garki LGA to Sponsor Nearly 1,000 Students in Nigerian Higher Institutions

Garki, Jigawa State – In a significant investment in human capital development, the Chairman of Garki Local Government Area, Hon. Adamu Hudu Kore, is set to commence a scholarship programme for about 990 indigenes of the local government studying in universities, polytechnics and other higher institutions across Nigeria.

The initiative, which is one of the largest education support programmes undertaken by the council in recent years, underscores the Chairman’s commitment to expanding access to quality education, reducing the financial burden on students and parents, and empowering young people to achieve their academic aspirations.

The planned scholarship scheme is the latest in a series of education-focused interventions championed by Hon. Kore since assuming office. His administration has consistently prioritised the education sector through the renovation and upgrading of schools, improvement of learning environments, support for the recruitment and sponsorship of volunteer teachers, and other strategic investments aimed at strengthening basic and secondary education across Garki Local Government Area.

Education stakeholders have described these interventions as timely and impactful, noting that sustained investment in education remains one of the most effective pathways to reducing poverty, creating opportunities for young people and promoting long-term socio-economic development.

The scholarship programme is expected to benefit students enrolled in various tertiary institutions nationwide, providing much-needed financial support to enable them to pursue their studies successfully and contribute meaningfully to the development of Garki Local Government, Jigawa State and Nigeria.

The initiative also aligns with the education agenda of the Jigawa State Government under the leadership of Governor Umar Namadi, FCA, whose administration has continued to prioritise education through massive school infrastructure development, teacher recruitment and training, improved learning facilities, expanded access to quality education and policies aimed at enhancing educational outcomes across the state.

Observers believe the synergy between the state government’s education reforms and the grassroots interventions of the Garki Local Government Council will further strengthen educational development and produce a new generation of skilled, educated and productive citizens.

As preparations for the scholarship rollout gather momentum, residents have commended Hon. Adamu Hudu Kore for placing education at the centre of his administration, describing the initiative as a lasting investment in the future of Garki and a model worthy of emulation by other local government councils.
