Iran Launches Ballistic Missile Attack on Jordan’s Azraq Military Base Amid Escalating Regional Tensions
By Public Eye News Global Desk
Middle East tensions escalated dramatically on Thursday after Iran launched a ballistic missile attack targeting the Azraq military base in eastern Jordan, a facility known for hosting Jordanian forces and supporting allied military operations in the region.
According to multiple international reports, Iranian forces fired a volley of ballistic missiles toward the Azraq area as part of a broader wave of retaliatory strikes against military installations linked to the United States and its regional partners. While some reports indicated that 10 missiles were launched, other official and media accounts cited different figures, highlighting the rapidly evolving nature of the situation.
Jordan’s military confirmed that its air defence systems intercepted incoming missiles over the Azraq region, preventing significant damage. Authorities said there were no immediate reports of casualties, although debris from intercepted missiles fell in parts of the surrounding area.
The missile attack forms part of a wider escalation between Iran and the United States following renewed military exchanges across the Gulf. Reports indicate that Iran also launched attacks targeting military facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, raising fears that the conflict could spread further across the Middle East.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the operation was carried out in response to recent U.S. military actions against Iranian targets. However, independent verification of Tehran’s claims regarding the impact of the strikes has not been established.
Security analysts warn that the latest exchange of missile attacks marks one of the most serious escalations in the region in recent months, increasing concerns over regional stability, global energy supplies and international security.
Governments across the Middle East and the international community continue to monitor developments closely while urging restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent a broader regional conflict.
